Description:
A phenomenal jug, heavily potted, faded orange lustre, with fine, consistent crazing creating a light grey ting which contrasts well the coloured transfers. On one side a maritime verse surrounded by a coloured, twisted rope border. On the reverse a ship in full sail, gun ports open, storm conditions, green sea and a dramatic sky. Below the spout, an image of Jack Crawford fixing the colours back onto the mast of HMS Venerable. A powerful piece of pottery.
Circa 1860
Approx 7.5 inches (190mm) tall.
In very good condition throughout.
